UNITEN LECTURER

In Uniten, they have two main college which is College of Information Technology and College of Engineering.

College of Information Technology  has four departments and the department is divided into two types and which is Computer Sciences and Information Technology. The total lecturer in COIT is about 58 people which are consisting of local lecturer also international lecturer.

Computer Sciences courses are divided into two departments and which is Department of Software Engineering (SW) and Department of System Networking (SN). Department of Software Engineering consist of 18 lecturer that who will be teaching for Software Engineering major subject and for Department of System Network (SN) consist of 13 lecturer that who will be teaching for System Network major subject.

Besides that, for Information Technology are also divided into two departments and which is Department of Graphics and Multimedia (GM) and Department of Information System (IS). The Department of Graphics and Multimedia consists of 10 lecturers that who will teach for this courses major subject. Lastly, for Department of Information System (IS) consist of 17 lecturer that who will be teaching for this courses major subject. 

College of Engineering consists of six departments which is Electronic & Communication Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Mathematics and Management, and College of Engineering Common Courses. There are many lecturers and they are experts in their respective fields.

A good lecturer is very important to produce excellent and quality students. That is why Uniten always keep the quality of their lecturers to become good instructors to ensure taht every student has adequate input in their future.

My Beloved Lecturer's

MISS MASYURA AHMAD FAUDZI

Every student has their own favorite lecturer on their university or college. My self also has  my own favorite lecturer and which is my own advisor at my university. Her name is Masyura Bt. Ahmad Faudzi and she was born at Teluk Intan, Perak. Besides that, she is my lecture for subject Introduction to Computer Graphics (CGMB 214) and the subject is about doing the graphic by using the coding (cprogramming).

In fact, she is an ex-student UNITEN before this to while doing her Degree in Information Technology, she furthers her Masters at University of Bristol, UK in M Sc. Advanced Computing (Global Multimedia) and she will further studies in  PhD soon.  In UNITEN, she is in department Graphics and Multimedia and which is my department too.

Characteristic that had in herself that she is very cool person, calm, enjoy, helpful and the best part is she always help the student in study. She does not like to fail the student and about marking paper she trying to give us as good mark as she can give.  Miss Masyura, always concern about their student also about the attendance student. I still remember when I fell sick and I tell her that I cannot go to the class today and she said that “that’s ok and take care of your self carefully”, the feeling that I feel that time is very happy and comfort with her because she understand me and she really helpful persons.

My favorite lecturer at Uniten~!

Each person must have their own favorite teacher. Just as I do. At Uniten I have my own favorite lecturer and his name is Mr Surizal Nazeri. He is my lecturer for subject Digital Logic Design. I am very pleased with the way the teaches. For me, he was a good lecturer because of the way he teaches is very calm and not panic. In this way makes me easy to understand with what he taught. He was also very edgy. He will come to each student to ask if the students understand or not with what he taught. I f the student does not understand about a topic, he will explain to the students several times until the students really understand about the topic. That is why I really like him.  I hope that I can get more and more lecturers who can teach like him. =)

Accommodation at UNITEN

STUDENT ACCOMMODATION

Study at university with peace, happy, friendly and with beautiful surrounding is important for us to study more work hard from time to time. However, the accommodation is also play role for student who really cares with place that they need to stay for a long time period of study at the university. Besides that, students' parent also take care about where their daughter or son will stay and the convenience for their children to live at our university.

UNITEN have four types of accommodations for student:-

            Female accommodation apartment

                        Ø    Ilmu Apartment (double room)

                        Ø    Murni Apartment (single room)

                               -also provide accommodation for married student which also called Married Student Apartment

                      

            Male accommodation apartment

                        Ø    Amanah Apartment (double room)

                        Ø    Cendikiawan Apartment (single room)   

The payment for the single room is RM280 per month and for the double room is RM200 per month. In every apartment, they provide a laundry so that it enable students to wash their cloth without having to go out of the apartment.

Accommodation for Uniten staff.

At Uniten, the accommodation not only for students but they also provides accommodation for their staff. The accommodation for staff is divided into two types which is apartment and double storey houses. Accommodation is provided for staff such as lecturers and  principals of student hostel so that students can deal with them easily. Principal house was built near the students hostel to facilitate them to contact their principal if there are any problems related to their hostel. Uniten Apartment (Male)

At Uniten, it have two types of apartment for male, that is Amanah and Cendekiawan.

 Apartment Amanah

              Apartment Amanah is a twin share room for male students in Uniten.

            Another apartment for male students is Cendekiawan. This apartment is single room for each students.

Accommodation for Female Student

ILMU APARTMENT 

Ilmu apartment was the first apartment also known as the oldest apartment that been build before the Murni apartment, Cendikiawan apartment and Amanah apartment. Ilmu apartment consist of 6 blocks, which is 4 blocks for twin shared room and 2 block for single room. Besides that, the name of the block is I1, I2, I3, I4, I5 and I6 also each block has 3 floors and there no lift provided in Ilmu apartment. The twin shared room had 2 room, 1 balcony, 1 kitchen, 1 bathroom (+toilet) and 1 living room. In addition, for the single room have 4 single room, 1 big bathroom (+toilet), 1 kitchen, 1balcony and 1living room.

The facilities that had around Ilmu apartment is Residence Hotel, UNITEN Mosque, UPTEN(UNITEN food court); groceries shops, College of Engineering (COE), College of Information Technology (COIT) and also Dewan Sri Sarjana (DSS).  With all this facilities, student prefer more to living at Ilmu apartment because there’s have a lot of advantage for student.

MURNI APARTMENT 

Single Student Apartment

UNITEN hostel are calling as apartment which is the apartment look likes home. Murni apartment is suitable with student who that loves the clam and quite surrounding. Murni had 2 blocks and 10 floor each of the block. Besides that, he view from the apartment is viewing the university and highway. Murni apartment near to College of Engineering (COE), COE food court, Admin Building (BA) and Residence Hotel.

However each house in Murni apartment has 4 single rooms, 1 bathroom, 1 toilet, living room, 4 study table, complete kitchen and balcony. Each block Murni apartment has warden who will guard and help student if they get any problem about their house. The Murni apartment sticker parking is limited for each parking lot in the apartment area. The parking sticker only for student degree who can apply without duration study at our university and for foundation student must wait for their 1 year study at UNITEN.

Married Student Apartment

This apartment has been build is to make easy for married student to stay near campus and our university had a lot of international student who that married and this is also a good facilities to them. Besides that, the apartment is build next to Single Student Apartment which is located on the Murni apartment area to. In UNITEN, on Murni apartment has Married Student Apartment and this apartment is limited for student to apply.

In addition, the Married Student Apartment has one double bed, one single bed, kitchen cabinet, a sofa set, a dining table, a shoe rack and a cupboard. The tenants are also allowed to add additional equipment in the apartment such as air-conditioning system and water heater with no extra charges. Student also can bring freezer, television and anything that needed for home.

Facilities in UNITEN

Masjid UNITEN

             In early mosque establishment UNITEN it placed under administration Canselori. Then established a special unit that describe as Unit Pentadbiran Agama (UPA) to operate affairs about Islamic Religion in UNITEN.

            Come off 15th of june 2005, Jemaah Pengurusan UNITEN upgraded Unit Pentadbiran Agama to Pusat Islamic Uniten. This establishment of centre is combination between Unit Pentadbiran Agama and Unit Islamic Studies (academic).

ATM Machine in UNITEN

       

            UNITEN have several ATM machine at every department. It's only have two type of ATM machine that widely used, that is CIMB BANK and MAYBANK. At college of Information Technology (COIT) have MAYBANK ATM machine, College of Engineering  and at the front of the library have CIMB BANK ATM machine. This facilities was used in UNITEN because to make the students or staff is easier to drop the money without go to the outside of UNITEN.

UNITEN Library

          Library is another facility in Uniten. Uniten is one of the leading Private University Libraries in Malaysia, with a reputation for providing information resources and excellence in customer service. The main library in Putrajaya Campus is located on the front portion of the campus. The Library consists of  6 levels occupying a total floor area of approximately 18,645.2 square meters. It is among the biggest library in southeast Asia.

Currently, the total number of library collection is 109, 694 volumes. This collection contains books, book materials, report and conference papers. It focuses on subjects such as computer science, information technology and engineering.

RESIDENCE HOTEL At Universiti Tenaga Nasional

On 18^th June 1993, for the first Residence Hotel was registered as Residence Hotel Management is to provide the hotel industry with much needed management services. In addition, there have three branch which is at Residence Hotel & Resort Paka (Terennganu), Residence Hotel at University Tenaga Nasional (Kajang) and  Residence Hotel Desa Lagoon Resort (Port Dickson).

Residence Hotel at University Tenaga Nasional was build inside our university it is because easy for people to rest and stay long at UNITEN. This hotel is the most valuable facilities for student and their parent besides other company stay and having the seminar. Students parent that who living far away from Selangor, they can stay here how long they need.

Students parents that who booking the hotel room at Residence Hotel because UNITEN having the convocation day, registration day for a new student, open day UNITEN and others. My advice, parent must book the hotel room early 2weeks from the day they want to stay. The causes is, Residence Hotel always full booking if UNITEN have any event.

At our university, not only local student parent that who stay in this hotel besides we also have international student. This is one of the most precious facilities for them to make their parent easy to stay closed with them. In fact, it also make them easy by not to stay outside especially for parent that not familiar with Malaysia yet. Besides that, the hotel is easily accessible to government and commercial centers. It is just a 25 minutes’ drive from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Sepang and 10 minutes from Putrajaya.

Resident Hotel at UNITEN, located very strategic place which is near to mosque, lake view, students apartment, student college, food court (UPTEN)  and near to back guard gate that make outsider easy to find the hotel.

Uniten's Gymnasium

My entry for this time is about facilities at Uniten. Uniten have many facilities but I am interested to talk about the gymnasium. Why I am interested to talk about this??Because I like gym so much! =)

The first thing that i want to share is the gym is located in Seri Sarjana Hall. The gym operates 5 days a week starting from Monday until Friday. It opens at 8 am to 10 pm on Monday to Thursday, while on Friday it opens at 8 am to 7 pm.

Time to get into this gym is different for men and women. There are certain times that enable users to both men and women to use the facilities in the gym. Therefore, users will feel more comfortable when they want to use the gym facilities.

The charges are very reasonable.They need to pay RM1.00 for student and RM1.50 for staff for 1 session. I can say that the equipment provided in the gym is complete.

You will get this ticket after pay to get into the gym

Throughout my experience using the gym facilities, I am very satisfied with all the facilities available in the gym. For example, the locker provided in the gym allow you to keep your item. So you do not have to worry about your item. With air conditioning and the most thing that I like is the background music that accompany when we are doing the activity there, we will feel more relax, energetic, and enjoy to do activity with background music played.

~Uniten Award~

There are so many award that has been received by Uniten. Among the most precious award is the Prime Minister's Award for Industry Excellence received in 2009. This award is in recognition of effort made by Uniten to excellence and put a high quality in providing education service for the country.

Prime Minister's Award is in recognition of government's effort of local companies who have achieved excellence in organization, innovation and corporate social responsibility. Performance of companies involved in the competition are evaluated based on 8 main criteria which consists of key management leadership and quality management, the use of quality data and information, human resource management, customer focus, quality assurance of external suppliers, process management, quality and business decisions, corporate social responsibility.

Besides that, other award that has been awarded is UNITEN wins  National Quality Environment (5S) Practices Award. This award is for UNITEN environment campus at Putrajaya and Muadzam Shah were by the Malaysia. Productivity Corporation (MPC) for Quality Environment Practices. These awards very valuable for out university because this is the result by keep clean our campus environment.

By putting much hard work from staff, is to ensure that UNITEN staff always made it practice to apply the values ad prescribed in the Quality Environment Practices when carrying out the responsibilities.  With this effort that they put to make UNITEN more quality and this effort has been rewarded with this achievement.

This achievement is a catalyst and it is not only for UNITEN to be successfully MS ISO 9001 : 2000 certified but also in ensuring that UNITEN emerge as an outstanding higher institution organization. With that, UNITEN is able to compete in the Quality Environment Practices Award at the national level in 2008 in the open category (services).

The awarding of the Quality Environment Practices Certification was held in conjunction with UNITEN’s Quality Day 2008 on 09 May 2008. During the ceremony, the Director of MPC announced that UNITEN was the first university in Malaysia to receive such a certification.

UNITEN 1st University to Receive Total Quality Fast Track Model from SIRIM

We did it again! We became the first university in Malaysia to be certified with the Total Quality Fast Track Model (TQFTM) by SIRIM Berhad. This is indeed another milestone for UNITEN which put us in a good stead towards driving UNITEN as a name to be reckoned with globally.

Kudos to UNITEN!

At this time, uniten get 2 certificate from SIRIM Berhad. First, certificate for the achievement in implementing Total

Quality Management Program according to SIRIM's Total Quality Fast Track Model on 1st September 2011 by Dr.Hj Zainal Abidin Mohd Yusof, Acting President and Chief Executive SIRIM Berhad. Second, recognition certificate TQM based on criteria TQ Model SIRIM from Senior General Manager SIRIM Berhad.

Anugerah Kemilau Emas Uniten

When we talk about accolades, we always talk about academic side until we forget about the co-curriculum part. If we want to find a job, the co-curriculum also will be considered. As at resume, the candidates also have to put their co-curriculum detail during their study time. So here I want to introduce about Anugerah Kemilau Emas Uniten.

This award was intended to appreciate the contribution and achievement of the student who active in co-curriculum activities. This co-curriculum activities is organized by Student Development Implementation Committee, Uniten. The second part is to encourage student involvement in co-curriculum activities which are made to form a student character. The third part is to encourage student involvement in community service and volunteer activities. The last part is to encourage the club in search of sponsorship in the organization program.

Anugerah Kemilau Emas Uniten is divided into 5 categories which is Anugerah Kemilau Emas for the Best Individual, Anugerah Kemilau Emas for the Best Club/Society, Anugerah Kemilau Emas for Best Overall, Anugerah Kemilau Emas for Club Advisor and the last one is Anugerah Kemilau Emas for the Most Active Zone.

For the Best Individual, the category is divided into several categories which is:-

For the Anugerah Kemilau Emas for Club Advisor, the winner will receive trophy and certificate of appreciation while the winner for Anugerah Kemilau Emas for the Most Active Zone will receive trophy.

This kind of award is very important for students who will finish their studies and graduated one day. This is because students will find a job on the field they have learned. In this case students will be evaluated based on their qualifications. If we see, in Malaysia how many graduates who excel academically do not  have a jobs. This is due to stiff competition among the students excel academically was so high and that many student do not get any jobs after they graduated. Through this competition, the students should have an advantage or expertise in the area other than academics such as co-curriculum.

With the establishmentof awards in the areas of co-curriculum, it will facilitate the students to compete with other graduates in obtaining employment. This award is very usefull if one day they would like to find a job because this is a bonus to the students in order to convince the company about the co-curriculum feasibility of the student. Every student need to grab this opportunity as much as they can to make sure that they have the characteristics that company want.

Dean's List Student Award

Dean’s list award is one of dream for all students in this world. This award will be awarded to students who achieve the Grade Point Average (GPA) pointer grade from 3.50 and above. This honors the academic accomplishments of our university undergraduate students each term by awarding placement on the Dean’s List award.

These awards are given at the end of each term and are not recalculated based on grade changes or the removal of incomplete grades. The award will accredit through a letter from the respective dean’s office and with a notation on the student’s academic transcript.

Dean’s list awards are one of important things that student needs for applying future career instead not only the co-curricular award that they need. This award will approve that the student is qualified and can give the great quality and great quality for being an employee. Studying at University Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), is one of the most outstanding university with the popular programme, with the student quality and this university is under TNB

The condition for student who wants to be awarded as Dean’s list:-

Ø    Obtains a Grade Point Average (GPA) 3.50 and above

Ø    Has grades of not than C in any subjects taken during that semester

Ø    Carries a work load of at least 12 credit hours and above will be

       included in the Dean’s list in that following semesters.
