All About Uniten~~



Universiti Tenaga Nasional also known as Uniten, has been launch on 1976. Before that, it is known as Institut Latihan Sultan Ahmad Shah (ILSAS), which served for many years as the corporation training center for Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and its predecessor, the National Electricity Board. In 1994, ILSAS was transformed into an instituteof higher learning and renamed Institut Kejuruteraan Teknologi Tenaga Nasional (IKATAN). It offered academic programmes in engineering and business management at undergraduate and graduate levels through twinning links with local and foreign universities. In 1977, IKATAN was upgraded to Universiti Tenaga Nasional.

Besides that, Uniten have two campus which is Putrajaya Campus and Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Campus. The main campus is Putrajaya Campus which is located in Kajang, Selangor. Putrajaya Campus consists of College of Engineering, College of Information Technology and College of Foundation And General Studies. While Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Campus consist College of Business Management & Accounting.


In College of Engineering (COE), it consists of several programmes offered which is Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons), Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Hons), Bachelor of Electrical Power Engineering (Hons), Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Hons) and Bachelor of Computer and Communication Engineering (Hons).





In College of Information Technology (COIT), it consists of programmes such as Bachelor of Information Technology (Information Systems) (Hons), Bachelor of Information Technology (Graphics & Multimedia) (Hons), Bachelor of Computer Science (Systems & Networking) (Hons) and Bachelor of Computer Science (Software Engineering) (Hons).








In College of Foundation and General Studies (CFGS), it consists of Foundation in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Foundation in Electrical Power Engineering, Foundation in Mechanical Engineering, Foundation in Civil Engineering, Foundation in Computer Science, and Foundation in Information Technology.

In addition, Uniten in one of the first private universities in Malaysia and is wholly-owned
 by the public-listed Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), one of the largest utility companies
in South East-Asia. Though relatively new as a university, UNITEN is moving rapidly
towards establishing itself as the regional center of educational excellence. The support
and commitment it receives from its holding company, TNB, has enabled it to accelerate
the infrastructure development of the campus.

The number of programmes it offers would be incrased accordingly, in line with its
commitment to serve the needs of the nation and other countries that look to
Malaysia for assistance to meet their requirements for higher education.
